Scholarships

We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA). We treasure and cultivate our connections with Presbyterians across the United States and around the world.

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS:

The Grace Vawter Endowed Undergraduate Scholarship Fund

The requirements of this scholarship are:

  1. A member in good standing of the First United Presbyterian Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas;
  2. A grade point of 3.0 or equivalent;
  3. The applicant’s annual family income should be $115,000 or less based on the 2023 CPI.

Note: If student files a separate Federal Income Tax Return, the student, even if living with parents, is a separate family for income purposes, so long as the parent(s) do not claim the student as a dependent.

The Trustees of FUPC are responsible for the selection of recipients.  The amount available for distribution is determined by the income earned by the restricted fund and the number of applicants, and varies from year to year.

All applications and selections are kept confidential by the Trustees and Church Treasurer. Please mail your application to FUPC (695 E Calvin Street Fayetteville, AR 72703) or email it as an attachment to info@fupcfay.org. The deadline for receipt of the application is July 31, 2023.

The Rev. Lee Power Religious Studies Endowed Scholarship Fund

The Rev. Lee Power Religious Studies Endowed Scholarship Fund exists to encourage the pursuit of graduate theological education for Christian ministry, and to honor Rev. Power’s distinguished service in the ministry and her faithful dedication to First United Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville.

The scholarship provides financial assistance to women associated with FUPC seeking graduate education to prepare for service to the church or continuing education while in service to the church. Approved applicants need to be a member of FUPC or associated with this church in some way.

If qualified female candidates are not available, male candidates may be considered. A letter of application should be received by  July 31, 2023, and should include the motives for graduate theology study, institution where the study will be pursued, and the purposes for which the study will be undertaken.
