We’re grateful for your interest in church membership at FUPC! We are always eager to have people unite formally with us as church members.
All are warmly encouraged to participate in the worship, education, fellowship, outreach, and stewardship of our church. Wherever you may be in your faith journey, we hope and trust you will know you “belong” to Christ and are an important part of our community of faith, worship, and service.
For Presbyterians, church membership is a covenant (a commitment made to God and others). “One becomes an active member of the church through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and acceptance of his Lordship in all of life. Baptism and a public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Lord are the visible signs of entrance into the active membership of the church.” (Book of Order G-5.0101). When you are a regular participant in the life of our church and are ready to place your gifts in God’s service here, formal church membership is a step you will want to prayerfully consider.
Every few months, we schedule an orientation experience designed to help you learn more about our church, its ministries, and the possibilities for your deeper involvement. The orientation will help you know more about:
- The beliefs, culture, and practices of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
- The mission, vision, and ministries of First United Presbyterian Church.
- Specific opportunities for you to place your talents and resources in God’s service through First United Presbyterian Church.
In conjunction with the orientation, those who sense God’s leading to unite with First United Presbyterian Church in covenant membership join through membership vows offered to God in a Sunday worship service.
If you desire to join our church, please contact the Church Office and a minister will respond.
