Christ is the head of the church, and church leadership finds its pattern in him. “The Son of man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give his life to set others free.” (Matthew 20:28). “Members and officers alike serve mutually under the mandate of Christ who is the chief minister of all. His ministry is the basis of all ministries.” (Book of Order G-6.0101)
Presbyterians emphasize the ministry of the whole people of God. We believe we are all called to be ministers. At First United Presbyterian Church, we are honored to share together in all of the ministries and mission God leads us to pursue. We have deacons, ruling elders, and teaching elders (Ministers of Word and Sacrament), who are specially called and ordained to pursue particular aspects of our shared ministry.
We consider it a privilege to serve God through First United Presbyterian Church, and we are eager to welcome you into our shared ministry and mission.
