What’s happening right now?

UPY Day of Service: Friday, June 4, 9am – 2pm

All incoming 7th – outgoing 12th graders are invited to SERVE on Friday, June 4. We will meet at FUPC at 9am and travel to Rogers together where we will serve at Samaritan Community Center all morning alongside the youth groups from First Pres. Bentonville and Springdale. Then we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch and hangout time at a local park. Return to FUPC by 2pm.

Students should bring: a sack lunch, closed toed shoes, clothing they are comfortable getting dirty in.

Mission Trip Prep Meeting: Sunday, June 6, 6:15pm – 8:30pm

Students going on the Mission Trip this summer should plan to attend the Mission Trip Prep Meeting on Sunday, June 6 after UPY. We will gather around 6:15pm at FUPC (after UPY that night), travel in the church bus to Springdale for the meeting, and return to FUPC by 8:30pm.

This is a very important meeting to attend if you are going on the Mission Trip!

Support UPY This Summer

During this summer of transition, UPY is in need of some additional support. Adult chaperones are needed for two special events (6/4 and 8/14), as well as regular UPY meetings during July (Sundays, 4:30 – 6 p.m.). Many members of the church have been generous in providing snacks for UPY gatherings – we are hoping that will continue throughout the summer too.

If you are someone who has a heart for spending time with students, or just has the ability to provide a snack one Sunday night, please check out the sign up form HERE. If you have difficulty using the form or otherwise have questions before committing to volunteering, please reach out to Jacob Christiansen. THANK YOU!

Upcoming At UPY

It’s important that you monitor your health and only come to UPY if you are healthy. We are asking all students to use the same self-screening questions as the Fayetteville Public Schools system. Before attending a UPY event, please ask yourself the questions located in THIS DOCUMENT.

Weekly Schedule

UPY Together – Sunday evenings, 4:30-6 pm

This is our weekly large-group gathering. All incoming 7th graders through outgoing 12th graders are invited to attend. Every week we enjoy hanging out, playing games, chatting, and learning about our faith and each other.

We have received permission from the Session of FUPC to meet indoors as the weather gets colder and the evenings get darker. We will only meet in large rooms and social distancing will be maintained. We will not be doing meals during youth group for the foreseeable future.

Small Groups – Thursday evenings, 6:30-7:30 pm

All 7th – 12th graders are invited to join a UPY Small Group! We meet from 6:30 – 7:30 pm on Thursday nights at Walker Park in Fayetteville. Small groups is a great place to meet new students in a smaller setting and have open discussions about our faith. The emphasis is on personal sharing and encouragement!

About UPY

At First United Presbyterian Church, we believe that building students up to be passionate followers of Jesus Christ is a primary responsibility of any church. That’s why our students spend time in quality discussion of that complicated book called “The Holy Bible.” We don’t believe that easy answers or surface-level understandings will help our students take ownership of their faith. Instead, we aim to inspire wonder in the person and the word of God.

The students and staff of United Presbyterian Youth (UPY) are passionate about the story of God. Everything we do is centered around sharing and enjoying God’s work throughout history. That means we tell and retell the fantastic stories from the pages of Scripture. But it also means that we tell stories of God’s work in our own lives—we’re part of God’s story too. Every week UPY students share a “King Sighting,” a small (or large) moment where they’ve seen God during their week.

We enjoy practical service opportunities, Bible studies, retreats, and large-group gatherings, all designed to help us grow resilient and community-oriented faith. Students at UPY have a chance to make a visible difference in God’s Kingdom by participating in outreach opportunities through work with local agencies, national mission trips, and even international relief efforts.

We seek to create a welcoming and loving environment where everyone is welcome. UPY welcomes all youth 7th-12th grade to join us for faith, fellowship, and fun. Come along with us as we engage with God’s story together!
