Let the Heavens Rejoice

Psalm 96: 11-13

Let the heavens rejoice, let the earth be glad;
let the sea resound, and all that is in it;
let the fields be jubilant, and everything in them.
Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy,
they will sing before the LORD, for he comes,
he comes to judge the earth.

He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth.

I arose this cool November morning with the thought, “A new day, another chance to get it right.” When I went outside to get firewood for our woodstove, I heard the migrating birds singing their little hearts out with joy, in contrast to the roar of traffic on the highways.

Most adults and, sadly, even children, know that all is not well on Earth.  Yet, the heavens do rejoice and continue to show the beauty of the Creation.  Christians have faith that Jesus came to us 2,000 years ago and will return sometime in the future.  In the meantime, Jesus can be with us, inwardly, every moment if we open our hearts and lives to Him.

Jesus promised He will return and then all the Earth will be glad, the fields jubilant, all the trees of the forests will sing for joy and truth will reign.  Until that day I will sing to Jesus and hope for His return.
