Hygiene Kit Packing

A big thank you to our Outreach and Service Ministry Team who organized a very successful church wide hands-on mission project this past Sunday, September 22, 2024. This is the second year that the congregation has gathered to pack hygiene kits to be distributed by Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Last year 300 kits were packed in 45 minutes. This year thanks to improvements suggested last year, 400 kits were packaged in 37 minutes.

The Outreach and Service Ministry Team ordered all the supplies needed and had them set up on tables in Fellowship Hall. The first step was to grab a one-gallon Zip-loc Bag and then proceed down the table adding the following items to the bag.

  • a hand towel
  • a washcloth
  • a comb
  • a bar of soap
  • a toothbrush
  • fingernail clippers
  • a small bag containing 10 bandages

Once all the items were added the air was squished out of the bags and the bags were sealed. Each bag was inspected by the quality control volunteers and then boxed.

The completed kits will be taken to Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center to be stored until needed.

Once all the kits were packed, the congregation enjoyed a delicious meal – a make your own taco salad bar prepared by volunteers.
