Cultivate Generous Stewardship

Our Planning Ministry proposed and the Session approved five pathways for growth for First United Presbyterian Church. The fourth of the five is cultivating generous stewardship. We are a generous church, and we thank God for way our church family has continue to support the church and our outreach in the community even during the pandemic.

s a Presbyterian church, we ask members to pledge — that is, to make a commitment to give a certain amount during the upcoming year. The fourth goal for our church includes an intention to increase the number of members and families who take part in pledging. We also hope to inform members about Legacy Giving, which means remembering the church in your will.

The Stewardship committee also hopes to increase the number of members who use the Time & Talents form to communicate the spiritual gifts they are ready and willing to share with the church family and community. There are so many ways that we all help one another and our community! Filling out a Time & Talents form allows the ministry teams to reach out to the right people to meet the needs that arise.

In our service on July 10th, Pastor Jan called out some of the other ways we can give. Right now, we are working to raise $120 to buy a goat through the Heifer Project with quarters. CEO, Cooperative Emergency Outreach, is another community organization which we support with our gifts and offerings. Community Meals is another such program. Together we are able to do much more than any of us can do individually.

After Jan speaks, you can enjoy a beautiful piano solo by organist Hyun Kim! Our church musicians and worship leaders share their time and talents with us, and we are thankful to them.
