Chamber Music Concert Planned for March 6, 2023

FUPC organist Hyun Kim and the Task Force for the Light on the Hill Concerts are excited to announce a concert that will take place in the FUPC Sanctuary at 695 Calvin in Fayetteville, Arkansas, at 7:00 on Monday, March 6, 2023.

The concert, which has been in planning for over a year, is another way to welcome our local community to our campus and forge connections with the people of Northwest Arkansas. Dr. Kim, who teaches piano at the University of Arkansas Fayetteville, has invited several colleagues from the U of A Music Department to join her for the inaugural concert.

Dr, Kim has performed with the Cincinnati Symphony, Colorado Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, Dallas Symphony, New World Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic, Seoul Philharmonic, and São Paolo Symphony orchestras and with singers from the Metropolitan Opera, Minnesota Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Seattle Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Aspen Opera Center, Opera Colorado, Boulder Opera Company, Central City Opera, and Kentucky Opera companies. She has performed at the Aspen Music Festival, Grandin Music Festival, the Festival de Musique de Sully et de Loiret in France, the Lucca Opera Festival in Italy, and Sintonize Produtora Cultural New Music Festival in Brazil, as well as many more.

A talented quartet of musicians will bring stunning live chamber music to FUPC. Musicians include

  • Nophachai Cholthitchanta, clarinet
  • Timothy McDuff, viola
  • Pecos Singer, cello
  • Hyun Kim, piano

Pieces to be presented include

  • Mozart’s Clarinet Trio in E flat, K. 498 “Kegelstatt”
  • Schumann’s Märchenerzählungen
  • Selections from Bruch’s Acht Stücke, Op. 83
