The congregation of First United Presbyterian Church joyfully announces that their next Senior Pastor and Head of Staff will be the Reverend Jessie Light-Wells. November 15 will be her first Sunday with us. We are excited to welcome Jessie and her family to Fayetteville. Reverend Jessie comes with a deep love for Jesus, a heart for people, and a passion for helping churches grow in faith and mission. She is a gifted preacher, a compassionate listener, and a strong leader who believes in the power of the Holy Spirit to transform lives. Her ministry is marked by authenticity, grace, and a commitment to walking alongside others on their faith journey. She is dynamic, resilient, creative, highly adaptable, and collaborative. We are confident that God has led her to First United Presbyterian Church for such a time as this.
She comes to us highly recommended. Here are a few examples of what others have said.
- “Jessie’s reputation had preceded her, but as soon as we met, I could see exactly why I had heard such wonderful things about her. She will bring energy, love, grace, and wisdom beyond her years to FUPC. What exciting times for you and for the Presbytery of Arkansas!” – Rev. Leslie Roper Chair of Committee on Ministry Presbytery of Arkansas
- “Jessie is creative in setting a vision and goals, making sure everyone’s voice is heard. She’s not going to be a pastor you don’t know. She’s the cream of the crop and knows how to preach, delivering sermons to learn from. She is prepared and I would want her as my church leader. Jessie brings a hopeful spirit in terms of leading a church.” Rev. Rosy Robson McCreary Colleague, Augusta, GA
- “Jessie is a gem. She stands on integrity and keeps moving forward. Jessie is capable, a futurist, and a visionary. Such a role as [Head of Staff at FUPC] will be perfect for her and I’m sure she will thrive. God is the giver of really great gifts and if she becomes your Pastor, your congregation will celebrate.” Rev. Libby Tedder Hugus, Ministry Coach
We look forward to welcoming Reverend Jessie and her family on Sunday, November 15. Details about her installation and a special welcome celebration will be shared soon.
