Greetings from Fayetteville's First United Presbyterian Church. We are a church with roots deep in the history of Northwest Arkansas. Our church has grown and developed right along with the city and the University of Arkansas, and a beautiful tapestry of life reflective of the city, the university, and the Northwest Arkansas hills has been woven by the church.
Today, the church is a vibrant and lively community of people that continues to be reflective of the larger Fayetteville area with members from various backgrounds and with lives engaged in a variety of professions --- in education, law, health care, business, manufacturing, and so on. Our membership is composed of people from different ethnic and racial groups and people of all age groups, as well. More recently, new members have come predominantly from the young adult population --- many with children and some with their family days ahead of them.
Despite differences in denominational backgrounds, in theological viewpoints, in race, in age, or in vocations the members of First United Presbyterian Church have this one thing in common --- a commitment to Jesus Christ and to the sharing of God's story through him. We seek both to tell his story of the good news --- the gospel --- and to live the good news. We do this through:
- Worship -- Two services on Sunday (8:30 and 11 a.m.) and several special services of worship throughout the year.
-
Music -- Choirs for all ages and special musical programs.
-
Education -- Sunday classes for everyone, women's circles, youth programs, and special events such as seminars and retreats.
-
Caring -- Deacons' and Stephen Ministries, pastoral care, and help on special occasions, such as when there is sickness or a death in a family.
-
Outreach and Service -- Mission trips, Habitat for Humanity, community food bank in Fayetteville (CEO), etc.
-
Fellowship -- Dinners, picnics, canoe trips, youth meetings, retreats, to name a few.
We seek to be a welcoming church that practices hospitality toward everyone. Come visit us. We believe you will like what you find at the church on the hill. If you do like our church, tell your friends. If you don't like our church, tell us. We want to know. Indeed, we look forward to the opportunity to get to know you. We hope you will visit us soon.
