Acknowledging God
Dennis Brewer and Jane Steinkraus • Calvin 203
This group explores biblical texts in an experiential style of learning—connecting faith and life—as we continue to seek a deeper relationship with God. This month we will begin our spring series, Acknowledging God. This study focuses on the God who calls people to worship and to acknowledge God’s ways in our lives.

Mudhouse Sabbath: An Invitation to a Life of Spiritual Discipline
Sara and Brett Torbett • Upper Witherspoon
After author Lauren Winner’s conversion from Orthodox Judaism to Christianity, she continues to find that her life is shaped by the spiritual essences of Judaism– rich traditions and religious practices that she can’t leave behind. In Mudhouse Sabbath, Winner illuminates eleven spiritual practices that can transform the way we view the world, and God. Winner writes with appealing honesty and rare insight. All ages are welcome!

The Wisdom and Witness of Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Derrik Olsen and Phil Butin • Calvin 201
We will be trying something a bit different beginning April 8. We will use The Wisdom and Witness of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a collection of short readings (about 300-500 words each) excerpted from many of Bonhoeffer’s longer writings. There are 50 or so excerpts arranged in the topics of: Church, World, Discipleship, Politics, Creation, Christ, Love, Future which we will use as the bases for our group discussions. The passages include Incarnate Worldliness, Reality Laid Bare, Guilty and in Need of Repentance, The Song of Earth and her Distress, Darwin and Christ, and many more. We plan to continue with this resource until early June when class breaks for summer. Copies of this book are available on Amazon in print and digitally. Paperback copies are also available for purchase through the Church Office.
