First United Presbyterian Church is committed to opening our eyes and hearts to the needs of our neighbors, whether that neighbor lives in the house next door, in the neighborhood of a surrounding town, or in a country on the other side of the world. We do this through the ministries of the PCUSA, but we are also committed to using our own hands in service. It is by serving as Christ would serve that our eyes and hearts are open to seeing the face of Christ in all people.
FUPC has committed itself to mission in a Spanish-speaking country. Our first attempt at global ministry was in the region of Chiapas, Mexico, through the covenant relationship between the Presbytery of Arkansas and the Presbytery of Lacandon. As that opportunity closed, the focus of global ministry was shifted to the Presbytery of Honduras.
First United Presbyterian Church also supports other mission and ministries that have a global context, including working through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance in tornado and hurricane clean-up, Gideons International, PC(USA) work/study trips, Habitat for Humanity, and Heifer International, among others.
